Me, a green pea by ~buttterflyinreverse:iconbuttterflyinreverse:

i am the third green pea
and it is horrible to be me
the two of you have clumped together
and left me and my bruised exterior
on this Chinet plate
smeared with toddler’s mess
and drool
and the constant screaming of
“This look funny, I don't wan it”
the two of you slide
so happy together
down the throat
of someone so small
yet knowing
of my dire fate
as a lonely doomed legume
amidst a garbage disposal filled
with other defective veggie tables

I love this!! It's such a great metaphor that I'm surprised I've never seen it before but I haven't. I mean it makes sense with the whole 2 peas in a pod thing. And I'm sure everyone has felt like the left out pea at one moment or another. Wow I really love that metaphor. Okay, enough on that, I also love the poem. Just the right amount of detail. Simple yet has depth. The last three lines are perfect!

This is amazing. Seriously.
It reminds me of a poem i wrote years and years ago by the name of "A Legume Romance," but it was terrible, hahaha.
You, however, have done legumes proud.
And your rhymes are so clever!
I'm jealous.

What a unique twist on a familiar feeling and saying. Very clever metaphor. It feels both light hearted on the surface ("Lonley doomed legume" made me laugh) but has a deeper level as well, one that goes beyond a sad, lonely pea. ;)

This is great - a lot of fun but still picks up on that feelings of "I hate to leave it by itself..." Great work!

Heh, what a piece you've got here. Like some super eloquent five year-old is complaining about being the last unwanted child (that was my first impression), and just naturally hating their "veggie tables." Bravo!

Makes me think they fell for some petty person's smooth talking.
This is a great metaphor, I'm sorry you've had to experience this.
